Description

The two-headed hill, one of the most popular peaks of the Taganay Range among tourists, attracts many visitors at any time of the year. Its northern peak reaches a height of 1041 meters and is an arched ridge that extends in a southeast direction. The slopes of the hill are covered with stone screes, and the peak itself consists of terraces, rock walls and crevices.

Tourists call the northern peak “Ram’s foreheads,” and locals call it “The Right Side of Taganay.” On the way to the top you can come across several springs known as "Rattlers". You can reach the Two-Headed Hill in one daylight - the distance from the Central Forestry of the Taganay National Park is about 6.5 km.

To reach the top, you can choose one of two main routes: through the climbing wall or through the White Key shelter.

The route through the climbing wall is attractive because it is less popular among tourists and passes through picturesque forests and alpine meadows. The route begins with a sign for a climbing wall about 1.5 kilometers before the White Key shelter. It passes through the forest and then leads up, where beautiful views of Zlatoust open up.

The second route starts from the White Key shelter and begins with a long iron staircase. After overcoming it, you will have to go up at an inclination of several degrees. This route is more difficult to climb, but it is passable and the trail is easy to spot.

The Two-Headed Hill itself consists of two peaks - “Ram’s foreheads” (northern peak) and “Feathers” (southern peak). On the southern peak you can see the remains of an old television repeater, and also enjoy panoramic views of Zlatoust, the Kamennaya River and the entire Taganay. “Perya” is often climbed by rock climbing enthusiasts.

While climbing any of the routes, you can enjoy the beauty of the Taganay ridges and its surroundings, and the higher you rise, the more picturesque the view becomes.
