Description

Responsive Ridge is one of the peaks of the Bolshoy Taganay ridge, 1155 meters high. Located in the Taganay National Park, this ridge is located 12 kilometers northwest of the city of Zlatoust and is a unique natural monument.

The ridge consists of several steep cliffs, up to 100 meters high, and has a characteristic ridge-like outline. Its name comes from the loud and repeated echo caused by the reflection of sounds from the rocky wall. From the top of the Otklikny Ridge a wide panorama of the Zlatoust Urals opens over several tens of kilometers.

From a geological point of view, Otkliknoy Greben is a fragment of the western wing of the Taganay anticline with a steep dip of layers, broken by cutting cracks into vertical blocks. The slopes of the mountain are covered with quartzites and crystalline schists. The eastern foot of the ridge is replete with huge blocks of monolithic quartzites, torn from the body of the mountain as a result of weathering.

To the north-eastern part of the foot of the Otklikny Ridge there is a steeply dipping tectonic fault, on which three springs of an ascending type are located.

There is a folk legend about the origin of the echo of the Responsive Crest, which tells that many years ago, in a cave at the foot of the ridge, there lived a fierce beast that devoured people on foot and on horseback. One day, a holy hermit prayed to God to destroy the monster, and the Lord destroyed the beast with a block of stone, leaving his voice as an echo as a souvenir.
