Description
Pionerskaya station is one of several stations on the Orenburg Children's Railway, located on the right bank of the Ural River in Orenburg, Russia. Its construction began in May 1953 and was completed in impressive fashion in just 68 days thanks to the active participation of city residents and youth. The opening of the road took place on July 26, 1953, when the first train, consisting of a steam locomotive and five passenger cars, set off on its maiden voyage.
During its existence, the children's railway served as a place of active recreation and entertainment for many children and teenagers. However, despite its popularity, the road faced a number of problems, including flooding caused by regular floods of the Ural River. These floods led to the destruction of infrastructure and deterioration of road conditions.
Over time and due to the economic crisis after the collapse of the USSR, the road lost its popularity and faced financial difficulties. Gradually, the road infrastructure was destroyed, stations and passenger buildings were subject to fires and vandalism. Subsequently, the children's railway was closed and declared lost.
Today, the site of the former Pionerskaya station is overgrown with young trees, and its infrastructure is almost completely destroyed. However, the remains of a concrete inspection pit and several sleepers scattered around the area remind us of the history of this unique site.
