Vasily Prokhorovich Goryachkin (1868–1935) was a prominent Soviet scientist in the field of agricultural machinery. His main works are related to agricultural mechanics, where he laid the foundations of the theory and calculation of agricultural machinery and implements, developed methods of testing, and the methodology for processing experimental data. Goryachkin is known for his works, including "The Theory of the Plow" (1927), which has become a classic in the field of agricultural science.
Throughout his career, Goryachkin created a whole range of instruments used in agriculture and engineering, such as soil densitometers, profilographs, dynamographs, and others. His scientific works remain relevant and in demand to this day.
The name of V.P. Goryachkin is immortalized not only in scientific circles but also in education and culture. The Moscow State Agroengineering University and the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Engineering bear his name. Monuments and memorial plaques dedicated to this outstanding scientist have also been installed in Moscow and Orenburg.
