Description

The Stroganov-Vasilchikov estate in Volyshevo, Pskov region, was a magnificent complex that was once considered one of the most luxurious estates in Russia. Located near Porkhov, this village had a long history, dating back to the 15th century, when the estate of the famous Zakhar Bespyatykh and his sons was located here.

However, the estate experienced true prosperity in the 19th century thanks to the efforts of Dmitry Vasilyevich Vasilchikov and his son-in-law Alexander Stroganov. It was then that a unique complex of buildings was created here, including a manor house, residential outbuildings, outbuildings, and a beautiful park. All buildings were built with sophistication, with attics giving them special elegance and attractiveness.

The Volyshevo estate was not only a place of luxury and elegance, but also a center of active economic activity. Here they practiced hunting and horse breeding, and the estate park served as a place for walks and entertainment. Hunts in Volyshevo were famous and described by many noble people of their time.

However, over time and historical circumstances, the estate began to fall into disrepair. After the October Revolution, a state breeding stud farm was founded here, and then the estate was converted into an agricultural institute and a secondary school. During the war, many of the park's plantings were damaged, but the park still preserved many rare plants and tree species.

Today, the Stroganov-Vasilchikov estate, despite its historical significance and beauty, is in a state of destruction. However, the remains of the manor house, outbuildings and park still impress with their majesty and beauty, despite time and natural processes. The hope is that the estate will find its savior and can be restored to all its former glory.
