Description

The sculptural composition called “Three Screws” was installed in the Lenin Square in Ufa in the fall of 2013. This monument is an architectural composition in the form of a stylized name of the city in the Bashkir language. The monument project was discussed at various meetings on city identity and received a lot of positive feedback.

Reconstruction work is already underway in Lenin Square, including laying paving slabs, installing benches and beautiful lanterns. But the main highlight of the square will be the sculptural composition “Three Screws”. Its installation is planned to be completed next year.

The name “three screws” has become famous since the times of the Soviet Union and is associated with a sign on the building of the Ufa airport, which resembled screws. This legend gave the city its own unique brand. The idea of installing sculptural “balls” or “screws” in the Lenin park was supported by bloggers. The proposal to make these balls huge, visible from space, aroused interest.

It is too early to talk about the size of the future sculpture; the cost of the project is also unknown. However, the installation of this composition will be an additional calling card of the city and a place to attract the attention of both residents and guests of Ufa.
