Description
The monument to Mazhit Gafuri was erected in 1978 in front of the building of the Bashkir Academic Drama Theater named after Mazhit Gafuri in the city of Ufa. The authors of this monument are the sculptor Lev Kerbel and the architect Lev Khikhlukha.
The opening of this monument was described as a significant event in the cultural life of the republic. Lev Kerbel, a famous sculptor who created many famous monuments such as Karl Marx and Lenin, gave Bashkiria a wonderful work of art. According to the honored artist of the republic Z. Basyrov, this monument “became a native of the people, a singer of the soul of the people.”
The monument was highly appreciated both from the point of view of art and from the point of view of its fit into the surrounding landscape. It added spatial harmony to the square in front of the theater and became an object of pride for the city of Ufa. This work of art was nominated for the Salavat Yulaev Republican Prize, which confirms its significance and high quality.
