Description

The Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia (TSDUM Russia) is the oldest existing all-Russian religious organization of Muslims. Its central bodies are located in the city of Ufa, Bashkortostan. Currently, the chairman of the Central Muslim Spiritual Directorate is the Supreme Mufti Sheikh-ul-Islam Talgat Tajuddin.

The history of the CDUM of Russia goes back to the Ufa Spiritual Mohammedan Law Assembly, established by decree of Catherine II in 1788. This Decree secured the status of full citizens for Muslims of the Russian Empire and recognized their historical role in the formation of Russia as a state and civilization. On December 4, 1789, in accordance with the decree of Catherine II, the Ufa Spiritual Mohammedan Law Assembly was formed, later renamed the Orenburg Mohammedan Spiritual Assembly, which existed until 1917. In 1846, it received the name Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Inner Russia and Siberia, and then changed its name several times, adopting the current one - the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia.

Under the leadership of Grand Mufti Talgat Tadzhuddin, the Central Muslim Spiritual Society of Russia has become one of the country's leading religious centers, playing a significant role in the spiritual revival of Russian society and the fight against extremism. The mufti's theological sermons, broadcast through various media channels, are filled with deep knowledge of Islam and permeated with a patriotic spirit.

Since the beginning of the 1980s, the number of local Muslim communities under the canonical control of the Central Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Russia has increased significantly, which indicates the important role of this organization in the life of the Muslim community in Russia.
