Description

The memorial "Countrymen who went to the front" was solemnly opened on the square in front of the Ufa railway station on Monday, June 22. This monument is a sculptural composition consisting of nine figures depicting the farewell to the front in 1941. The creation of this memorial was entrusted to the team of authors under the leadership of the famous sculptor Vadim Kirillov, whose work on the project lasted more than two years.

The place to install the monument was not chosen by chance. The square in front of the station has a special historical significance, since it was from here that hundreds of thousands of fellow countrymen went to the front during the “Farewell of the Slav” march. This place is filled with a special spirit; songs of various peoples sounded: Bashkir, Russian, Tatar, Chuvash, Mari, when fathers, husbands, sons and daughters went to the front, believing that they would definitely return home alive and with the Great Victory.
