Description

Gebius Falls are on the list of the most popular attractions in Gelendzhik due to their natural beauty and convenient location.

Gebius waterfalls are located 60 km from Gelendzhik, east of the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka. This attraction is located on the border of Greater Gelendzhik and the Tuapse region, which makes it accessible to residents of both areas. All year round, you can see many tour buses and private cars in the parking lot near the falls.

The popularity of the Gebius Falls is also due to their convenient location next to the highway. They are easy to visit both as part of excursion groups and on your own. There is no need to take long hikes along forest paths or drive off-road. Just leave your vehicle in the parking lot next to the waterfalls, pay the environmental fee and go sightseeing.

What you can see at the Gebius Falls:

Gebius Falls take their name from Mount Gebius, 735 m high, which is located nearby. They are also known as Tesheb waterfalls, named after the Teshebs River on which they are located. There are scenic trails along the waterfalls, surrounded by forests. A variety of flora can be seen here, including orchids, bluebells, Himalayan cedars, beeches and lindens.

In order to get to the waterfalls, you need to walk about a kilometer along a picturesque path, enjoying the sound of water and clean air. There are seven waterfalls in total, but three of them are the most popular:

  • Swift - 17 meters high, it is characterized by a rapid stream of water falling into a natural bowl. The waterfall has a staircase leading to its top.
  • The Devil's Mouth or Belt is the highest of the Gebius waterfalls, 20 meters high. Here the water crashes between the limestone slabs, creating a characteristic sound.
  • The grotto is a colorful 7-meter waterfall, named after the famous actor who often visited these places.

Hiking trails with a total length of 5 km are laid along the waterfalls. The 1 km long route is equipped for excursions and provided with everything necessary for a comfortable stay: stairs, bridges, benches, as well as souvenir and snack stalls.
