Description
Novomuradymovskaya Cave, located in the Muradymovsky Gorge Nature Reserve, is the largest and most visited cave in the Southern Urals. It is known for its accessibility and colorful interior nature, including impressive stalagmites, stalactites, stalagnates, karst deposits and the underground lake "Zagadka".
The depth of the cave is 32 meters, and the total length is 1370 meters, of which visitors can walk about 700 meters. The further path is blocked by a siphon, which can only be overcome with scuba gear. In 1991, speleologists discovered a connection between two caves - Novomuradymovskaya and Vodosbrosovaya, which increased the total length to 1850 meters and the depth to 108 meters. The main entrance to the cave is closed with an iron grate, and the descent is carried out with a guide as part of a paid excursion.
Entrance and corridors
The cave begins with a narrow corridor about 100 meters long, leading to the "Devil's Bridge" hole, where logs are laid to facilitate passage. Then the corridor turns left, leading to the "Concert Hall" with unusual acoustics, where dripping water creates melodic sounds. To the north of the "Concert Hall" begins a gallery with a gradual descent about 300 meters long, expanding into the halls "Topographer's Shelter", "Good Fairies", "Geologist's Dream" and "Rest". Along the way, you can see picturesque calcite waterfalls and a griffin with the purest water.
"Four-Piece" halls and manhole
In the "Geologist's Dream" hall, there are stone blocks and calcite formations, and a stream flows nearby. Further, the cave continues with a corridor with a flat pebble-covered floor and a lowering ceiling, along the walls of which calcite waterfalls descend. After 200 meters from the "Topographer's Shelter" hall, the corridor becomes so low that further passage is possible only on all fours, which gave the name "Fours". The cave ends with the "Stone Flower" hall, which can be reached through a small lake.
Cost of visiting
Novomoradimovskaya Cave is open for visits from mid-summer to late autumn. In spring and summer, the cave can be flooded, which makes passage difficult. In winter and spring, the main entrance is locked, and excursions are not held.
The cost of visiting the cave with an excursion was 240 rubles per person in the summer of 2014 and increased to 370 rubles in 2019. Tours last 2-3 hours depending on the size of the group, but in recent years the route has been shortened to 400-500 meters due to the threat of collapse and the increase in the number of visitors. The cave maintains a low temperature of about 11 degrees, so it is recommended to dress warmly and take a headlamp with you.
Attention: As of June 28, 2015, the cost of the tour was 350 rubles, and the route was shortened due to the threat of collapse. In 2019, the cost of visiting was 370 rubles, and tours are conducted 400-500 meters into the cave.
