The USSR Mega Museum, also known as the "USSR MEGA Museum", is a unique museum that offers visitors an immersive experience of the Soviet era. Opened in 2017 on the territory of the Olympic Park in Sochi, it moved to a more spacious building on Nagatinskaya Street, 7/3 in the Central Microdistrict in 2021. The museum occupies about 600 square meters and combines several thematic exhibitions, including the Museum of Soviet Childhood, the Museum of Arcade Machines, the Museum of Weapons and the Museum of Retro Motorcycles.
Museum exhibitions
The museum is divided into several thematic zones, each of which reflects different aspects of life in the USSR:
- Everyday life of Soviet citizens: Here are collected interior items, household appliances, kitchen utensils and much more, familiar to many Soviet citizens.
- Interactive Zones: Visitors can play Soviet-era slot machines, use soda machines, sit at typewriters, and make calls on landline phones.
- Era Interiors: Popular interiors of Soviet apartments have been recreated, including corners with folding beds, sideboards with festive dinnerware, carpeted walls, and more.
- Motorcycles and Retro Cars: A collection of Soviet motorcycles and children's cars, as well as a weapons exhibition.
- Shops and Department Stores: Reconstructions of shops and department stores, where you can see clothes that were fashionable at the time and try out the cash registers.
