Description
The Dragon's Lair, or Stone Grotto, is located in the Teriberka natural park on the shores of the Barents Sea. This cave attracts tourists with its unusual rock relief, which really resembles a dragon’s “lair”. According to local lore, the round stones scattered along the bottom of the cave are called "dragon eggs", hinting at the presence of animals in the area.
To visit the Dragon's Lair, you must register on the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Murmansk Region and indicate the details of all group members. If you are traveling on an excursion from Murmansk, the organizers will take on this task. To visit the park, a fee of 360 rubles per day is charged.
The cave is located in a specially protected natural area, so the car should be parked in front of the barrier. The distance from the parking lot to the Dragon's Lair is about 1 kilometer, and the path can be walked in 12-15 minutes.
The best route to visit the cave involves visiting the Small Batarei Lake and waterfall, and then continuing on to the Dragon's Lair and weather station. This circular route allows you to see many of the park's interesting sites in one day.
