Description
Coastal defense battery No. 199 of a separate artillery battalion is a significant historical and military heritage site located near Teriberka. This battery played an important role in the defense of the coast of the Kola Peninsula during the Great Patriotic War.
Built in the late 1930s, battery No. 199 was equipped with powerful ship guns and had the task of protecting Teriberka from landings and attacks by enemy ships. With its help, Soviet soldiers were able to repel enemy attacks and ensure the safety of shipping and fishing in the region.
The battery's guns, although they had stood in their positions for 80 years, remained in good condition. Despite some rust, they still look impressive. Vandals unfortunately attempted to damage the guns, but they were repainted to preserve their historical value.
The hike to the battery through picturesque surroundings, including lakes and the sea, is a fascinating journey into the past. The opportunity to see these historic structures and imagine the hardships our soldiers had to overcome makes this site especially important and meaningful to preserve and pass on to future generations.
