Description
The Teriberki weather station, founded in 1889, is the oldest meteorological station on the Kola Peninsula and one of the oldest operating in Russia. It is located on the territory of the specially protected natural park “Teriberka” and monitors weather conditions in the area.
The weather station in Teriberka consists of two houses: an old building, which is considered the first built in the village, and a new one, used by modern meteorologists. The main part of the station is various meteorological instruments installed on the hill. The station continues to operate to this day.
To visit the weather station you must walk. It is impossible to drive up by car, as there is a barrier on the way, and to get to the station you will have to travel about 400-500 meters from the parking lot, where an entrance fee to the natural park is charged. The location where the weather station is located is also close to the Dragon's Nest and the popular Stone Beach, making it accessible to tourists and an interesting place to visit.
