Description
The Museum of Architecture and Design of the UrGAKhU in Yekaterinburg is located in a historical park, on Gorky Street, 4a. It was created in 1975 on the basis of the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute (SAI) and the Sverdlovskgrazhdanproekt Institute. Its history began long before that, in 1973, when the Historical Square was opened in honor of the 250th anniversary of Sverdlovsk. The merits of the architectural institute in the creation of this complex were recognized, and some of the buildings were transferred for the creation of a museum.
The museum presents a wide exhibition, including sections on the history of architecture of the Urals, as well as on the development of industrial technology. The exhibits include models, graphics, paintings, photographs and large equipment from Ural factories.
