Description

The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the city of Orenburg is an important Orthodox church, which was founded on April 30, 1852 by Dean Vasily Olshansky. The construction of the temple was completed on October 30, 1853, and its consecration was carried out on November 22, 1853 by His Eminence Anthony, Bishop of Orenburg and Ufa.

In 1904, the temple already had 3,019 parishioners, which indicates its importance for the local population. The temple actively participated in charitable events, allocating funds for the treatment of the poor and supporting the families of deceased clergy.

However, in 1933, the temple was transferred for long-term use to the regional consumer union of Orenburg and converted into workshops. This led to the fact that the church building was used for industrial purposes, and its spiritual purpose was lost.

After a long period of confrontation and many legal processes, in 1991 it was decided to return the temple building to the ownership of the Orthodox community. In subsequent years, active work was carried out to restore and restore the temple, including the construction of a bell tower and interior decoration.

Currently, the church actively interacts with society, holding charity events, meetings with youth and events for children with disabilities. Restoration work continues, and the temple remains an important center of spiritual life for the local community.
