Description
The "American" Hotel in Orenburg was one of the outstanding establishments of its time, built in 1901 by the Khuzainov brothers, particularly known for its unusual eclectic style. Rooms in this hotel cost from 1 ruble 50 kopecks, which was more expensive than in most other hotels in the city. The "American" Hotel was a popular venue, and various entertainment events, such as orchestra concerts and performances of Gypsy romances, were regularly held here.
However, with the advent of Soviet power, ownership of the building changed hands, and the hotel came under the control of law enforcement agencies. In the late 1920s, the architectural appearance of the building was altered, and an additional floor was added. Currently, the building of the "American" Hotel belongs to the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia for the Orenburg Region.
