Description

Yanov is a railway station located on the Chernigov - Ovruch route of the South-Western Railway near the city of Pripyat in Ukraine. The station was put into operation back in 1925 and played a key role in the formation of the city of Pripyat.

Before the tragic events at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the Yanov station actively served passenger and cargo transportation, and was also an important transport hub for various enterprises, including the Chernobyl nuclear power plant itself. However, after the accident in 1986, the station was closed to passenger traffic, and residents of the village of Yanov were evacuated due to the high radiation danger.

Currently, the Yanov station is part of the transport complex of the state enterprise Chernobylservice. Devices for carrying out cargo operations, as well as some infrastructure elements related to the maintenance of rolling stock, have been preserved on the territory of the station.

One of the interesting facts about Yanov Station is that it became famous thanks to the popular video game, where it is the setting for various groups of stalkers. However, in real life, the Yanov station has its own history, starting from the distant past and ending with modern days, when it continues to serve as an important transport point, especially during the period of eliminating the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.
