Description

The village of Krasno (Krasne in Ukrainian) is located 6 kilometers directly from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This is a very short distance, but the village and the station are separated by the huge lake “Starik” (a tributary of the Pripyat River). To get to Krasno, we need to drive about 30 kilometers along a terrible and broken road through the Paryshev checkpoint.

Before the Chernobyl accident, only 350 people lived in the village. After the explosion of block number four, the village was very contaminated. People were evicted to the Kyiv region, Baryshevsky district. The village of Krasno is very ancient, so many of the houses look quite colorful and unusual. The culture of the Polesie region has adorned this small but cozy village. The wooden and very neat houses and spacious courtyards are very impressive.

Despite its size, there is a lot to see in the village of Krasno. The village is one of the best preserved in the Chernobyl zone. The marauders were still here, but they did not have time to greatly disfigure the area. Household items from abandoned houses in the exclusion zone are, in particular, small specimens of the Polesie Museum. Here you can find many antique utensils for cooking, washing, etc. Many items were collected after the accident and stored in one of the museums in the city of Chernobyl. Unfortunately, it is not always open and is not easy to visit. Despite the high background, which is ten times higher than normal, the village is gorgeous.

I was amazed by the wild and so cozy nature in this wonderful place. Birds sing here, animals run around, not a soul around. Radiation did not destroy the gorgeous nature of the village of Krasno.
