Description

The Utrish lighthouse is a historically significant structure located on the island of Utrish in the Krasnodar region of Russia, on the shores of the Black Sea. The lighthouse has two important components: the old lighthouse, which now functions as a chapel, and the new lighthouse, erected in 1975 in memory of the sailors who fought during World War II.

The ancient lighthouse, built at the end of the 19th century, currently serves as the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of sailors. Its location on the island makes it an attractive place to visit and worship. St. Nicholas, depicted in icons with a ship and fishermen, is believed to have special meaning for sailors and fishermen.

The new lighthouse, erected in 1975, is a monument to the heroic exploits of the sailors of the Azov-Black Sea Shipping Company during the Great Patriotic War. Next to the lighthouse there is a granite slab with the names of the deceased transport crew members, as well as a monument to the crew of the Yak-40 aircraft that crashed in 1976.

These lighthouses are not only historical monuments, but also symbols of the courage and heroism of sailors who fought for their homeland in difficult times. A visit to the Utrish lighthouses is of interest to tourists who want to get acquainted with the history and culture of this region. In addition, their visit can be conveniently combined with an excursion to the Anapa Dolphinarium, which will make the trip even more memorable and varied.
