Description
Over the centuries, temples and churches in Anapa have been destroyed, leaving the city without enough places for the spiritual life of its residents. Today, the two active temples in the city can no longer cope with the number of parishioners, especially on holidays. There was a need for a new temple, which would serve not only as a place for prayer, but also as a center for the spiritual, moral and patriotic education of youth.
The construction of the new temple complex began with the construction of a chapel in the name of the Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God in the 3rd microdistrict of Anapa. This chapel became the basis for a large complex, which includes a three-altar temple for 500 people, a parish school, a charity canteen, a medical center, a library and premises for clubs and educational work with youth. The temple complex is located in a new residential area with a high population density, and its improvement includes a garden and park area.
Temple Project
The temple project, developed in 1999 under the supervision of architect Alexander Dolgov, combines elements of Eastern and European cultures. The temple was erected on the site of a former airfield, and so that it would not be lost in the vast field, it was made two-story, with an artificial hill around the lower floor. The Temple of the Icon of the Mother of God "Sovereign" is an important part of the future Vladimir complex, which is intended to become the center of the spiritual and social life of the city.
