Description
The monument to the children of the war in Orenburg was erected in the park named after L. A. Guskov in December 2010 thanks to the joint efforts of the Region television company and the Cossacks of the City Orenburg Cossack Society “Slavyanskoye”. This memorial monument was created to pay tribute to the children who became victims of the Great Patriotic War.
The opening of the monument took place on September 9, 2013, during the celebration of the city’s anniversary. It was a significant event, accompanied by various activities such as a music and dance floor and a photo exhibition. Veterans and children of war read poems, both their own compositions and those of famous authors. All members of the initiative group were recognized for their contribution to the creation and opening of the monument.
The sculptural composition depicts a brother and sister fleeing the cold in someone else's clothes. Their faces show fear and sorrow, and the toy lying next to them reminds them of their childhood, which was interrupted by the war. These children, left behind during the war, were forced to face hunger and hardship while awaiting news from their loved ones from the front. They became a symbol of those who raised the country from devastation after the war and learned to live again.
The monument is installed on a granite pedestal, and at its foot lie flowers and children's books, symbolizing the memory of a childhood interrupted by the war and hope for the future.
