The Stele of St. George the Victorious in the Guskov Park in Orenburg was installed on May 8, 2010 in honor of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. St. George the Victorious, celebrated on May 6, is considered the patron saint of the military, and the stele symbolizes gratitude to those who fought the enemy at the front and made sacrifices for their country.
The stele is made of stainless steel, and the pedestal is made of granite. The installation of the memorial was carried out by workers from various workshops of the plant, as well as with the participation of other organizations, such as Ortechtsentr LLC, Emergency Center LLC and Landscape LLC, which helped in the improvement of the area adjacent to the stele.
The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Orenburg, the chairman of the City Council, veterans, employees and management of the Strela PA plant, as well as residents of the city. The general director of the plant noted the importance of installing the stele next to the plant, which played an important role in supporting the front during the war, and expressed gratitude to the former director of the plant L.A. Guskov, after whom the park was named, for his contribution to the development of the enterprise and the city.
