Description

In the Chelyabinsk region there is a small village of Leninsk, which was founded in 1824. Its history began with the Tsarevo-Alexandrovsky mine, named after Emperor Alexander I, who personally visited these places. At the same time, the largest gold nugget in Russia was discovered here, called the “Big Triangle” and weighing 36 kg. Many believers live in the village, so a church was erected - the Temple of St. Apostle Andrew the First-Called.

Construction of the temple began on October 18, 2007 with the blessing of Metropolitan Job of Chelyabinsk and Chrysostom. The project was financed by residents of the village, as well as local businessman Alexander Zemlyanitsyn. He also presented the church with the holy icon of St. Alexander the First-Called. For his contributions to the construction of the temple, the entrepreneur was awarded the Order of Sergius of Radonezh, III degree.

The construction of the temple took a year and a half. As soon as the walls were completed, services began in the unfinished temple. The consecration took place on May 31, 2009. The Church of St. Andrew the First-Called was built on a hill so as to be visible from all the streets of the village. The building, made of red brick, has three floors. Its blue roof is decorated with golden domes and a bell tower with eight bells. Inside the temple there are colorful icons created by professional icon painters from Moscow.
