Description
Ilmen Lake, also known as Ilmen or Imenkul, is located in the Southern Urals near the southern tip of the Ilmen Range, in the territory of the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk region. The lake has a shape close to an oval, extending in the northwest and southeast directions. Its area is about 4.76 square kilometers and its maximum depth reaches 6.1 meters.
The Miass-Chebarkul highway and the Ufa-Chelyabinsk railway run along the northern and eastern shores. On the western shore of the lake there are recreational areas, such as a recreation center and children's health camp "Chaika", and the Ilmensky Art Song Festival is also held.
The lake is home to a variety of species of aquatic vegetation and animals, including rare species of dragonflies and river otters, recorded in the Red Book of the region. The lake also serves as a popular spot for fishing and outdoor recreation, especially in the summer when the water warms up quickly due to its shallow depth.
The western shore of the lake is a recreational area where you can rent private houses or hotels for your vacation. This is also where the art song festival begins, attracting both famous artists and local talent.
