Description

On Volzhsky Avenue in the city of Samara, there is a hidden gem that has remained unknown to many residents and visitors for years – one of the oldest fountains. This fountain, located within the premises of the Samara State District Power Plant (SGRES), was inaccessible to the public until recently. However, in honor of the 110th anniversary of the SGRES, a special viewing window was installed in the fence, allowing everyone to admire this historical artifact.

The exact date of the fountain's creation is unknown, but the sculptural composition is believed to date back to the 1930s or 1940s of the 20th century. Crafted in a classical style, the plaster sculpture depicts boys diving into the water from stones. For a long time, the SGRES workers took care of the fountain and sculptures, paying special attention to their maintenance. However, due to the lack of proper restoration care, cracks began to appear on the fountain itself, and parts of the sculptures started to come off.

The decision to restore the fountain was made in 2010, and a decorative wrought-iron window was installed in the SGRES wall. This window became a kind of "window to the past," allowing people to admire the fountain and its historical sculptures, recreating in their imagination the historical moments and atmosphere of bygone eras.
