Description

A pedestrian bridge across the Sviyaga River in Ulyanovsk connects the village of Seld and the garden community, playing an important role in the infrastructure of the area. However, at the moment the bridge is in emergency condition, requiring major repairs.

The history of this bridge goes back to the distant past. In 1909, the Kazan Highway passed through Seldin, and Kazan merchants transported their goods across the Seldin bridges. At that time, the bridges were suspension, which raises questions given the volume of traffic at that time. In the 1980s, the old bridge began to collapse, and a decision was made to build a new one. However, in the 1990s, when a period of economic difficulties began, the number of summer residents in the area decreased, which led to the gradual destruction of the new bridge.

Now there is a “No Trespassing” sign in front of the old bridge, and it is really dangerous to enter it due to its disrepair. The bridge structure, made of rotten plywood and holes, sways, posing a safety hazard. In such conditions, it is safer to comply with the ban and cross to the other side along the new bridge.
