Description
The howitzer gun in the Victory Park of the city of Samara is a historically important military weapon - a 76-mm divisional gun of the 1936 model. This Soviet artillery weapon, developed during World War II, is installed in the park as a symbol of the memory and heroism of the people during the war.
The F-22 gun became the first completely Soviet weapon, developed under the leadership of the outstanding designer of artillery systems V.G. Grabina. As part of the concept of a universal (anti-aircraft divisional) gun, it was designed for use in both artillery divisions and air defense. However, despite its importance, the F-22 cannon was withdrawn from mass production shortly after production began due to identified deficiencies.
Despite this, the manufactured copies of the gun were actively used in the pre-war years and during the Great Patriotic War. Many of them became trophies for the German, Finnish and Romanian armies. In Germany, captured guns were modernized and were used as anti-tank guns, both in towed and self-propelled versions. Thus, the F-22 howitzer gun left its mark in the history of military affairs and became a symbol of Soviet artillery during the Second World War.
