Description
The Church of All Saints in the city of Samara was conceived in early 2000 as a monument to the lost church, which was blown up in 1931 on Sportivnaya Street. The idea of building a new church was supported by Archbishop Sergius of Samara and Syzran, who blessed the collection of donations for this project.
The construction of the temple began in 2003, and by 2007 the temple structure was completed. In the same year, on the Feast of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary, domes and crosses were installed. At the time of installation of the domes, a large crowd of believers gathered, despite the prohibitions of the installers from approaching the crosses.
The temple was built in the Byzantine tradition and combines the features of a basilica and cross-domed temple. Inside the temple there is a lower temple in the basement, which began operating in 2008, as well as an upper temple, which is currently also used for services.
The exterior decoration and painting of the temple continues, making it an important religious and cultural center in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Samara.
