Description
The memorial obelisk, installed at the intersection of Lunacharsky and Novo-Sadovaya streets in Samara, is a symbol and monument to the fighters of the October Revolution of 1917. This obelisk was erected in 1960, on the eve of the 43rd anniversary of the revolution, and became one of the characteristic elements of the urban landscape of Samara.
Created by the famous sculptor A.V. Godzevich, the obelisk became an important symbol marking the contribution of the fighters of the revolution to the history of the city and country. Located in the park opposite the plant named after A.A. Maslennikov, a former pipe factory where many workers supported the Bolshevik government and took an active part in the events of the October Revolution and the Civil War, the obelisk is a reminder of the role of the working class in history.
The monument is installed on a granite pedestal, which reaches a height of 10 meters and is made of massive blocks. One of the front sides of the obelisk is decorated with a wreath, which is framed by a torch, symbolizing the light and enlightenment brought by the revolution.
This memorial obelisk is not only an element of the urban landscape, but also an important historical symbol, reminiscent of the turning point events that occurred in the country more than a century ago and had a profound impact on the further development of Russia.
