Description
The fountain in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Victory, located on the Square of Heroes of the XXI Army in the city of Samara, was built in 1985 in honor of the fortieth anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany. This fountain is the largest in the city and has become the historical pride of its residents.
The square where the fountain is located did not have a name until 2007, but now it is called the Square of Heroes of the XXI Army and is a popular vacation spot for both tourists and local residents.
In 2009, the fountain underwent a major overhaul, during which granite slabs, pipelines and the entire water supply system were replaced. More than a thousand meters of pipes were also laid. 2.5 million rubles were spent on repairs.
The 21st Army, after which the square is named, went down in the history of the Patriotic War as one of the best armies of the USSR. Many of its soldiers and commanders were awarded the highest state awards for their heroism.
The fountain not only refreshes passers-by in the summer heat, but also reminds them of the exploits of Soviet soldiers. It is an important symbol of the city and its historical memory.
