Description
The "Soldier of the Revolution" monument, also known as the "Soviet Soldier", is a tall figure of a Red Army soldier, made in a laconic style. It was installed in the park in memory of the Salmysh battle in Orenburg. This square and the memorial signs in it are dedicated to the events of the Civil War, in particular, the fighting on the Salmysh River.
The Battle of Salmysh, which took place on April 26, 1919, is considered one of the significant battles of the Civil War. During this battle, the Red Army defeated the troops of Admiral A. Kolchak, which played an important role in the defense of Orenburg and contributed to the subsequent success of the Red Army.
The square itself was founded in 1981, and memorial signs, including the “Soldier of the Revolution,” were installed on its territory in 1984. Both monuments were created by the famous Orenburg sculptor Nadezhda Gavrilovna Petina.
