Description
The Cave of Desires, located on a rocky cliff of the Una-Koz ridge near the village of Dakhovskaya, is one of the most popular attractions in the area, accessible via the Savranskaya (Dakhovskaya) cable car. This through grotto with a spacious cave hall several meters high offers stunning views of the Belaya River valley and the Khadzhokh Canyon.
The name "Cave of Wishes" comes from a local custom: they believe that if you make a wish by leaning a wand against the wall of the cave entrance, your wish will come true. Therefore, at the entrance you can usually see a palisade of twigs and sticks.
The most convenient way to reach this cave is to climb Mount Una-Koz by cable car. From the side of the ridge there is a rough path laid over overhanging rocks. The cave itself is spacious, high, and you can freely stand upright in it. The exit from the cave forms an overhang over the rocky part of the ridge, offering stunning views of the valley of the Malaya Belaya River.
A visit to this cave is absolutely safe: there is a floor inside and a metal fence that allows you to approach the very edge. It offers a breathtaking view that will be remembered for a long time. The Cave of Desires can be an interesting waypoint between other locations on your journey.
