Description
The memorial complex, whose solemn opening took place on May 2, 2005, has become an indispensable symbol on the central square of the Saraktash settlement in the Orenburg region. The stela, standing at a height of about 6 meters, is the main element of the memorial complex dedicated to the military and labor glory. Installed on a small pedestal with four steps, it serves as a perpetual reminder of the feats and sacrifices of wartime.
The construction of this memorial complex was made possible thanks to the generosity of the residents of the Saraktash district, who raised funds through voluntary donations. The initiative to create the memorial belongs to the district administration and the local society of veterans, who sought to preserve the memory of those who fell and went missing in action from the front lines.
Around the stela, there are stone blocks with plaques inscribed with the names of the fallen and missing from the front lines. Information about the memorial contains important figures: during the Great Patriotic War, 12,248 residents of the Saraktash district went to the front, of whom 7,119 are considered dead or missing in action. Nine of them were awarded the highest honor - the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
The stela of the memorial, symbolizing martial spirit and steadfastness, consists of three quadrangular rifle bayonets aimed towards the sky. Between them, near the very top, is a staff with the Order of the Patriotic War. At the base of the stela, there is equipment for the Eternal Flame, symbolizing the eternal memory of the fallen. Every year, during the celebration of Victory Day, wreaths and flowers are laid at the memorial, confirming respect and homage to those who gave their lives for the freedom of the Motherland.
