The Long or Dolzhanskaya Spit, located in the Yeisk region of the Krasnodar Territory on the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov, is a unique landscape formation. It borders the Taganrog Bay from the south and serves as a natural monument of the region, attracting attention with its shell beaches, deep sea and freshwater lakes. In addition, the spit is home to a variety of fauna and flora.

The Long Spit, which became part of the Yeisk Peninsula, has an interesting history and geological past. In the past it served as a place for fishing, and in Soviet times it was affected by the construction of the Tsimlyansk reservoir, which led to changes in its shape and size. Geologically, the basis of the spit is made up of marine sediments, mainly shells of Cardium mollusks. These deposits are constantly renewed, which maintains the stability of the spit. In addition, various plant species are found on the spit, including those listed in the Red Books of the Russian Federation and the Krasnodar Territory.
