Description
The airplane monument to Taman aviators was erected in recognition of the feat of the pilots who participated in the liberation of the Taman Peninsula from fascist invaders in the period from 1942 to 1943.
This monument is an image of the MIG series fighter, which was developed by aircraft designers Mikhail Gurevich and Mikoyan. The name "MIG" comes from the initials of the aircraft designers.
The MIG series aircraft were first introduced in 1939 and played a key role in the battles against the German Me-109E fighters.
An airplane monument dedicated to the aviators of Taman was installed at the entrance to Taman from the village of Sennaya. This symbolic gesture recalls the valor and courage of the pilots, whose actions helped liberate Taman from enemy occupation during the difficult years of the Great Patriotic War.
