Description
In 2012, the construction of the Phanagoria Scientific and Cultural Center, located in the area of the Eastern Necropolis on the territory of Phanagoria, was completed. The official opening of this center took place on October 3, 2012 and was marked by an international symposium dedicated to the ancient heritage of Kuban.
Today, the building of the Center is turning into the largest scientific library in Russia, specializing in the ancient, Roman and Byzantine periods of the history of the South of Russia and Crimea. It also covers the ancient history of Greece, Rome, Byzantium and the development of Christianity in Russia. The Center is also creating modern laboratories that allow scientists to conduct research and restoration of artifacts directly at the excavation site and provide storage of the necessary equipment for expeditions.
