Description

The memorial to police officers in Orenburg, opened on November 6, 2003, is a symbol of memory and respect for those who died in the performance of their duty to society. The obelisk was installed at the intersection of Gagarin Avenue and Vostochnaya Street in the city of Orenburg. It is dedicated to the memory of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

The memorial is a stele depicting the sword of the law, 9 meters high, on top of which is the coat of arms of the department of internal affairs. Under the stele there are colonnades with 12 slabs on which the names of fallen police officers are carved. On the pedestal of the stele there is a golden inscription: “Grateful Orenburg region to the defenders of law and order.”

The square where the memorial is located is named after police major Viktor Pavlovich Samokhin, the first police officer in the city of Orenburg who died during the Chechen war. Events held in the park include concerts dedicated to the memory of fallen employees, including veterans and participants of the Second World War.

This memorial is an important symbol not only for law enforcement officers, but also for the entire community, reminding us of the dedication and sacrifices made in the name of public safety and the rule of law.
