Description
Kaban-Tash is a picturesque rock located on the banks of the Belaya River in the Republic of Bashkortostan, and its height reaches 110 meters. This place, surrounded by legends, is often visited by tourists, and locals and tour guides are happy to tell stories about its origins.
The name of the mountain comes from the Bashkir language and is translated as “stone stack”. This rock truly resembles a smooth haystack. There are many interesting stories and legends associated with this name. One of these legends is associated with the village of Akbulatovo, located on the right bank of the Belaya River, not far from Mount Kaban-Tash.
According to legend, a rich bai once lived in this village. During a severe drought that affected the entire area, the residents' crops were lost, and the bai also grew good hay. Bai cut the hay and piled it near the river bank, and in winter, during famine, he sold it at a much higher price to his neighbors. The people did not forgive such greed and cursed the bai, after which the haystack turned into a stone stack, which to this day towers over the river, reminiscent of human stinginess.
