Description
The Skazka Cave, a natural formation, is located in the Burzyansky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan in the floodplain of the Belaya River. A well-trodden path about 600 meters long, starting from the river bank, leads to it. Near the entrance to the cave you can see two crooked pine trees, which serve as a good landmark for tourists.
The cave is located about three kilometers from the Shulgan-Tash nature reserve, also known as Kapova Cave. It is often visited by tourists, especially on summer weekends, especially Saturday and Sunday. These days, near the cave or in the cave itself, you can meet many people interested in its unique nature and atmosphere.
Description of the cave
The cave of natural origin has a total length of passages of about 1150 meters and a height difference of about 35 meters. The entrance to the cave is rocky, about 50 cm high, after which an inclined descent begins through the black soil down another 4 meters. The descent ends in a large hall known as the Living Grotto, which can accommodate several people standing up to their full height. In this hall, sounds echo, indicating the presence of voids below.
Two forks depart from the Gostiny Grotto. The right passage leads to a hall of collapsed columns, which ends in a dead end. The left passage is through a skinny, which must be overcome on all fours. This passage leads to another large hall, from which a system of dead-end passages branches off. Only the leftmost passage leads to the continuation of the cave, to the Skazka grotto. This path includes a narrowing, winding skin path that ends in a narrow hole.
After crossing a narrow passage, the path turns into the Dwarven Grotto, a small hall that can accommodate only three people, seated. Then the path leads up to the Table Grotto - the highest part of the cave, where the ceiling height is about 20 meters. Here you can see beautiful calcium waterfalls, small sinter formations and small stalactites. The walls of the grotto are covered with moisture, and wet clay lies on the floor. Several lakes can be found in small karst sinkholes.
Tourism to the Skazka Cave
The cave is available for independent visits both in summer and winter. In order to explore all the halls of the cave, it will take about two hours without a guide and about an hour with one. However, if you miss a narrow hole, the inspection time is reduced to about 20 minutes. When moving around the cave you will have to mostly crawl or walk on all fours. For new speleologists, visiting this cave will be a real challenge and experience.
How to get there
You can get to the Skazka cave from the nearest settlement - the village of Akbulatovo (about a kilometer) or along a walking trail from the Shulgan-Tash nature reserve (about three kilometers). Also, as part of the rafting along the Belaya, you can moor near the cleared shore 2.5 km before Shulgan-Tash, the landmark is a bathhouse on the shore and a gazebo a little higher.
