Description
In the Ilek district of the Orenburg region, there is a village called Kardailovo, founded by settlers from the Voronezh province in 1819. Initially, the villagers practiced Christianity, leading to the necessity of building a church. In 1829, the villagers appealed to the Orenburg diocese with a request to build a church, which was approved.
Construction of the church began in May 1829 and progressed quite rapidly. Just four years later, in 1833, the villagers approached the Orenburg archpriest with a request for the consecration of the temple. By this time, the church already had the necessary utensils and iconostasis installed, and houses for priests were built. The church was designed by architect Charleman and was dedicated to the Protection of the Holy Virgin. A bell inscribed with "In Memory of the Coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna" was acquired for this church.
In 1933, following the onset of persecutions against clergy and the destruction of churches nationwide, the church in Kardailovo was closed and partially demolished. However, the process of restoring the church began in 1998.
