Description

The monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the Great Patriotic War is located in the central park of the Perevolotsky district of the Orenburg region, at the intersection of Leninskaya and Proletarskaya streets. Symbolizing a warrior and home front worker, it is represented by two bronze figures mounted on a granite pedestal. The top layer of the pedestal has the shape of a four-pointed pyramid with a granite monolith on top. On the monolith there are boards with the names and photographs of two Heroes of the Soviet Union, born in the Perevolotsk region. At the base of the pyramid there are boards with the names of all the soldiers who did not return from the front. The height of the monument is about 8 meters.

During the Great Patriotic War, 8,088 residents of the Perevolotsky district went to the front, of which 3,290 people did not return. Many of them are still listed as missing. Three Heroes of the Soviet Union come from this area.

The monument was erected on July 17, 1966, initially representing a single figure of a warrior with a PPSh-41 assault rifle in his hand. Later it was replaced by the current one, manufactured in Leningrad and delivered to the Perevolotsky village in parts. At the base of the monument there is a burner for the Eternal Flame. On the day of the Great Victory, May 9, ceremonies are held here and flowers are laid. According to tradition, newlyweds from Perevolotsk also bring flowers to the Heroes’ Monument.
