Description

In 1812, in the Orenburg region, the Cossack village of Krasnoholm was established. This village was founded by Cossacks who arrived to guard the border. One of the significant landmarks of this village is the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, which was built between 1900 and 1914 with funds from the Cossacks of the Krasnoholmskaya stanitsa. The construction was associated with the centenary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. The completion and restoration to its proper appearance were later achieved through donations from parishioners. The church was built in a cross-shaped form with tall lancet windows and an octagonal fence adorned with intricate metal grilles, and its architectural style is eclectic. This church gives a distinctive appearance to the village.

In the 1930s, the church was closed and used as a barn for storing grain. By order of the district authorities, a decision was made to dismantle the bells. However, local residents refused to do this, so outsiders had to be brought in. As a result, one worker died while attempting to remove the large bell. Clergy and believers were subjected to persecution and repression.

Since the early 1990s, the building has been returned to the Church, and with the blessing of Archbishop of Orenburg and Buzuluk Valentine, services in the church were resumed in 2001.
