Description

One of the main attractions of the village of Black Spur in the Orenburg region is the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. The construction of the temple was completed in 1996, and since then it has become a place of worship for many parishioners. Viktor Stepanovich Chernomyrdin, a political figure and adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, took an active part in the construction of the temple.

The village of Cherny Otrog was founded by the Cossacks in 1827 and is one of the oldest villages in the Orenburg region. At first it was a fortified outpost that protected the country from attacks by bandits and nomads.

The Church of St. John the Evangelist was consecrated on September 6, 1996 by Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II. Ten years later, in 2006, the relics of saints from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, as well as an icon with the relics of princes Danil of Moscow and Alexander Nevsky, were transferred to the temple. In 2007, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' - Kirill visited this main religious attraction of the Black Spur.

Currently, the Church of St. John the Evangelist is under the care of the Chernomyrdin family. This attraction attracts many pilgrims and tourists from different regions of Russia all year round; many come to venerate the shrines kept in the temple.
