Description
Lake Razval, located in the resort town of Sol-Iletsk in the Orenburg region, is a famous salt lake. It is part of a local group of lakes and stands out for its size and high salinity compared to other bodies of water in the surrounding area.
The average depth of the lake is about 10 meters, and the greatest reaches 22 meters. Currently, Lake Razval is under state protection, which emphasizes its environmental importance and uniqueness.
Mine failure and flooding
Lake Razval was formed at the site of the exploitation of the salt deposit, which began in 1754. Previously, in this area there was a mountain called Tuz-Tobe, which is an outcropping of a salt layer on the surface of the earth. More than 150 years of salt mining have led to the formation of a basin more than 30 meters deep and about 240 meters wide. In April 1906, the pit was flooded by the flood waters of the Peschanka River, forming the current Lake Razval.
After the quarry was flooded, salt extraction began using the mine method. In 1979, due to karst processes in the earth’s crust, a fault occurred, through which water from Lake Razval broke into the underground adits of the mine. This happened at night when the mine was not working, which saved many lives. In the local history museum you can see mining equipment recovered by divers from a flooded mine.
In the vicinity of the lake you can still find outcrops of the salt layer on the surface in the form of salt blocks. Due to the high salt content, the water in Lake Razval never freezes, even in severe frosts.
The healing properties of the salt lake
The water in the salt lake Razval Sol-Iletsk resort is rich in salt and microelements, the average salt concentration is about 200 g per liter of water, and sometimes reaches 345 g/l. In such conditions of the chemical composition of the lake there are no living organisms and vegetation.
The city of Sol-Iletsk is gradually becoming a resort center and the pearl of the Orenburg region. New medical and preventive sanatoriums, resorts and health complexes are being actively built here. Due to the high content of salts, beneficial minerals and the hot climate, it has a healing effect on the body. The resort is successfully used to treat various diseases of the musculoskeletal system, skin diseases and other things.
There are several hotels in Sol-Iletsk, as well as the possibility of renting housing from local residents. Entrance to the territory of Lake Razval is paid: for adults - 100 rubles on weekdays and 200 rubles on weekends.
