Description

While flying on the Li-2 plane on March 2, 1943, the weather suddenly changed: the Orenburg sky became cloudy and a snowstorm began. In conditions of poor visibility and difficult atmospheric conditions, the crew began to encounter unforeseen difficulties. Unable to reach the planned airfield in Orenburg, the pilots decided to make an emergency landing in Sol-Iletsk.

Local residents of Sol-Iletsk at night heard the sound of a low-flying plane, which was struggling to make its way through the snowstorm. As the plane approached the city, it became quiet - this indicated that the landing had taken place.

Sol-Iletsk played an important role in logistics during the Second World War. As a key railway junction, the city received and processed numerous military trains, providing them with the necessary resources and treatment facilities for the seriously wounded. There were also factories, retraining schools and other important facilities that supported the combat effectiveness of the Soviet army.

The Li-2 aircraft was discovered by residents of the villages of Saratovka and Boevogorskaya, who assisted in unloading the cargo. However, no passengers or crew members were found near the crashed plane. As soon as the snowstorm subsided, the authorities became aware of the location of the Li-2 crash.

At the site of the plane crash near Sol-Iletsk, a memorial sign was erected, which forever reminds of the incident. The hero’s ashes lie in the city park of military glory, and the mechanical shop of the machine-building plant bears his name - this is a constant memory of his exploits and sacrifice. Students of the 4th city school, representing the “Search” detachment, tell visitors to the school museum “Military Glory” about the life and heroic exploits of N.P. Gorodnicheva. In 1967, the name of the hero was given to the pioneer squad of this school, and one of the streets of the city was named in his honor. Bust of N.P. Gorodnichev, installed near the school, became the venue for all special events. German Nikolaevich Gorodnichev made a film about his father, which was shown on regional television and transferred to the museum - thus his story and fearlessness live in the hearts and memories of local residents.
