Description
In the center of the city of Sol-Iletsk, located in the Orenburg region, stands Victory Park - a symbolic memorial dedicated to the memory of those who did not return from the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War. This park was established in memory of the 3838 city residents who died in that terrible ordeal. The opening of the park took place on May 9, 1986, and since then it has become one of the main symbols and attractions of the city.
The central element of the park is a majestic monument, which is a composition of a soldier kneeling before his Motherland. The soldier holds a PPSh-41 submachine gun in his hands and covers his wound with a battle flag. Next to it is a sculpture of a woman, symbolizing the Motherland, and a soldier who returned from the war wounded. Both characters are holding a heart in their hands, from which flames of the Eternal Fire burst out, symbolizing the immortality of the feat and the memory of the fallen.
There are alleys, manicured lawns and flower beds around the monument, and along the alleys there are steles with the names and portraits of fellow countrymen-heroes of the Soviet Union and holders of the Order of Glory. On the pedestal under the first sculpture of a soldier are carved the names of all the fallen soldiers of the Sol-Iletsk region. There are also granite slabs in the park with the names of residents of the area who did not return from the front.
Victory Park has become not only a place of memory and veneration of war heroes, but also an attractive place for recreation and walking for citizens and tourists. With its grandeur and symbolic meaning, it attracts many visitors, becoming one of the prides of Sol-Iletsk.
