Description

Combat Mountain is a unique natural object associated with the emergence of salt layers to the surface. It is a pronounced salt dome in the form of a ring ridge with a diameter of about 740 meters and a relative height of up to 70 meters. It is located approximately 8 kilometers north of the resort town of Sol-Iletsk.

The mountain was formed due to the release of salt layers in this place, which lie over a large area from Solikamsk to the Caspian Sea. Its formation occurred in the Kungurian age of the Permian period, approximately 275.6 - 270.6 million years ago.

The ring shaft of the Battle Mountain surrounds a natural karst round depression in which there is a fresh lake fed by groundwater. The depth of the lake is about 25 meters in the central part, but according to local data, the maximum depth reaches only 7 meters. Small crucian carp live in the lake. On the eastern slope of Mount Boevoy there are two springs, the water of which is enriched with minerals and contains a high concentration of potassium and sodium.

The mountain got its name as a result of major battles during the Civil War of 1919, when battles took place here between soldiers of the Red Army and the troops of General Dutov. Reflecting these bloody events, the mountain was named Combat. In the village of the same name, located at the foot of the mountain, you can find traces of ancient quarries and several old burials. The mountain was originally called "Dead Salts" because of the highly salty water in the spring.
