Description
Mount Bolshoi Iremel, the second highest peak in the Southern Urals and one of the most famous peaks in Bashkiria, is located on the border of the Beloretsky and Uchalinsky districts of Bashkortostan, as well as the Chelyabinsk region. Consisting of two peaks - Big Iremel (1582.3 m) and Small Iremel (1449.4 m), it attracts tourists with its unique natural features.
On the plateau at the top of Big Iremel, called "Boar", you can see huge stones, giving the mountain some resemblance to a haystack. These rocks can make climbing difficult, especially during rainy weather when they become slippery.
Even in summer you can find snow on the mountain tops, and the temperature here rarely rises above zero degrees. The weather in this area is extremely changeable, so travelers should be prepared for any changes.
Iremel has been considered a sacred place since ancient times, which made it rarely visited by ordinary people. However, today it is a cult place that attracts many tourists all year round. Many claim that the mountains here have a special energy that allows you to recharge your batteries for a long time.
At the foot of the mountain is the village of Tyuluk with several recreation centers, and a few kilometers away is the Larkino Gorge with the mountain river Tyuluk.
The mountain consists of two peaks:
- Big Iremel with a plateau-like peak called Kaban (which translates as “stack”), 1582.3 meters high.
- Small Iremel, 1449.4 meters high.
Between the peaks there is a saddle area about 1 km wide and 1200-1250 m high. The length of the mountain range from northeast to southwest is 12 km, and from northwest to southeast - 8 km.
At the foot of Iremel are the sources of several rivers, including Tygyn, Sinyak, Bolshoi Avnyar, and Karagayka, which belong to the Belaya River basin. The Belaya River also originates here.
The vegetation in the mountain area is rich in dark coniferous taiga in the forest belt, and above there are open forests, subalpine meadows and mountain tundra. In this area you can find numerous species of flora, including rare and relict species such as Caucasian sedge, tree willow, and others. A variety of bird species are also found, such as the golden eagle, hoopoe, and black heron.
The Iremel Natural Park was created by a decision of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2010, covering the territory adjacent to the Iremel peak, including the Avalyak ridge.
